공연을 가던 길에

KCRW 라디오에서 들었어

한 노부부의 이야기였는데,

모빌홈 안에서 죽은지 한 달은 더 됐는데도

부패한 흔적 없는 시신으로 발견됐다고 해

 

내 생각에 동사하는 것의 이점은

죽은 상태 그대로 보존되는 게 아닐까

서로의 품 안에 갇혀

평온한 얼굴로 두 눈을 감은 채

만일 화재 경보기가 울리지 않았다면

그들은 그 상태 그대로 봄을 맞았을지도 몰라

신은 정말이지 불가사의한 방식으로 일하시지

전기 요금을 내지 못해 동사해버린 노부부가

무료 용지를 나눠주러 들렀다가

우연히 경보음을 듣게 된 이웃에 의해 발견되었으니 말야

 

어쩌면 영원은 그런 방식인지도 몰라

내 사랑, 부서지는 동안 나와 함께 있어줘

 

그대가 내 곁에 있어주겠다고만 한다면

엔트로피 따위 난 견딜 수 있을 거야

모든 것이 부서져 흩어진다는 걸 알면서도 내 심장을 그대에게 줬어

오직 그대와 함께 부식되길 기도해

서로의 품 안에 갇혀

평온한 얼굴로 두 눈을 감은 채

아침이면 새로운 삶이 태동할지도 모르니
