나아질 기미가 보이지 않고
도로 위에서 뛰놀던 아이들은
땅 위에 흘러가는 비행기 그림자를 손 끝으로 따라 그리네
 
그 모습을 보고 있자면 어쩐지 눈물이 날 것 같았지만
울어봤자 이 기분은 조금도 나아지지 않겠지
어쩌면 이 모든 게
외마디의 비명으로 산산히 부서질 꿈이 아닐까
사람들은 묻겠지, 정말 그렇다 해도 무슨 수로 알 수 있겠어?
그럼 난 대답하는 거야 - 어려울 것 없지
아무리 작은 조약돌이라도 계속 던져 넣다보면
우물물이 마를 날이 오지 않겠어?
 
문제는 모두 땅 위에 있는데도
사람들은 아무도 그걸 풀려하지 않고
하늘 위에 시선을 고정시킨 채
천국으로 이어지는 실오라기라도 잡아보려 발버둥치지
 
그것만으로도 울음을 터뜨리기엔 충분했지만
그런다고 나아지는 건 아무것도 없겠지
조금만 애를 써도 답을 알 수 있을텐데
아무도 풀어보려 하지 않고
그저 이렇게 말할 뿐이지, 어차피 해답은 알 수 없는 거라고
그럼 난 대답하겠어 - 답을 찾는 건 어렵지 않아
아주 작은 조약돌이라도 쉬지 않고 던지면
우물을 가득 메울 수 있는 거니까
 
해답은 발에 채일만큼 길 위에 널려있지만
아무도 알아채지 못하고
종이 위에 적힌 계획을 따라
아무렇지도 않게 땅을 엎어버리지
 
그것만으로도 비탄에 잠기기엔 충분했지만
그래봤자 아무 소용 없다는 걸 알아
답은 도처에 존재하지만
누구도 들으려하지 않고
단지 이렇게 말할 뿐이야
어쨌든 답은 알 수 없는 거라고
그럼 난 대답하겠지, 웃기는 소리 말라고
아무리 하찮은 조약돌이라도 계속 던져 넣다보면
거대한 우물을 메울 수 있는 거라고
