이미 그런 얘긴 질리도록 들어왔지
작가가 일종의 은유를 위해 주인공을 죽이는,
그러나 거기에 상상의 여지는 별로 없는 그런 이야기들
그 이야기를 생생하게 들려주고 싶지만 생각만큼 쉽진 않아서
한 장 한 장 넘기며 꼼꼼하게 읽고 또 읽다보니 알겠더라
제목은 다르지만 모두 같은 이야기를 하고 있는 것 같았어
그 속에서 우린 파괴하고 재건하고
어른이 되지만 여전히 추측할 뿐
아무것도 알지 못해
경이롭지만 아무것도 아닌
우린 순간에 불과해
영리하지만 대책없는
우린 그저 인간일 뿐이지
즐거운 그러나 혼란스러운
우린 발버둥치며 살아가지만, 무엇을 위해 그러는지는 끝내 알 수 없겠지

재앙이라고 부르기엔 모든 게 너무 순식간에 지나가 버려
저속으로 촬영해 거꾸로 돌려볼 수 있다면 좋겠지
결정적인 한 마디를 찾아낸다면, 그게 미래의 우리 모습을 알려줄 해답이 될지도 몰라
하지만 결국 우린 끓는 냄비 속에 잠깐 떠오른 거품에 불과하겠지
생각의 고리 속에 한 번 내뱉는 숨
열평형 상태에 도달하게 될 찰나의 존재
거의 확신하지만, 알 수 없지, 알 수 없어
다른 이름을 붙여보지만 결국은 모두 하나의 이야기에 불과해
우린 매달리고, 구걸하고, 발버둥치며 숨을 잇지
그리고 아무것도 알지 못해
경이롭지만 아무것도 아닌
우린 순간에 불과해
영리하지만 대책없는
우린 그저 인간일 뿐이지
즐거운 그러나 혼란스러운
서로 돕고, 재건하고, 성장하고
또한 아무것도 모르는

똑, 똑, 집집마다 문을 두드리며
그들의 은유가 당신 것보다 쓸만하다고
당신은 가라앉을 수도, 헤엄쳐 나갈 수도 있겠지만
어느 쪽이든 끔찍하긴 마찬가지라고
그들이 떠먹여 주는 걸 있는 그대로 받아들이지 않는다면
당신은 아무것도 느낄 수 없을 거라고 광고를 해대지
그래서 난 그걸 읽고 또 읽었어
모두 제목은 다르지만, 결국 같은 얘길 하고 있더군
우린 강한 심장을 가졌지만, 약한 두뇌를 가지고 있다고
우린 끝도없이 경쟁해나가지만
아무것도 모를테지
경이롭지만 아무것도 아닌
우린 순간에 불과해
영리하지만 대책없는
우린 그저 인간일 뿐이지
즐거운 그러나 혼란스러운
우리가 가진 유일한 진실은
끝내 답을 알지 못할 질문들 뿐이야

I heard this old story before ?
Where the people keep on killing for their metaphors ?
But don’t leave much up to the imagination ?
So I want to give this imagery back ?
But I know it just ?ain’t so easy like that ?
So I turn the page and read the story again and again and again?
It sure seems the same with a different name ?

It all happened so much ?faster than you can say disaster ?
