여기, 한 사내가 있어

스스로의 비극의 거울상이 되어

무슨 짓이든 저지를 수 있는 자신이 두려워

거울 속 얼굴을 제대로 쳐다 보지도 못하는

여기, 한 사내가 있어

저 혼자만의 걱정에 싸여

머잖아 네가 다 망쳐버릴 거라고 스스로에게 속삭이는 동안

해답은 끝내 그의 머릿속에만 존재할 뿐이야

그가 머릿속에서 굴리는 저 대단한 박애 정신을 봐

잡아 먹히겠어, 거기에 잡아 먹힐 거야

그의 오만이 스스로의 정신을 갖고 놀고 있어

결국 잡아 먹힐 거야, 잡아 먹히기 직전이라고

어느 쪽이든 배우는 건 있겠지

그리고는 그 무엇도 널 무너뜨릴 수 없는 체 하는 거지

부러뜨릴 수 없는 척,

그 거울을, 깨뜨릴 수 없는 척

여기, 한 사내가 있어

스스로의 결함에 취한

예민한 영혼, 그것 참 대단한 반항아

자신의 단점이라면 샅샅이 찾아내고야 마는

여기, 한 사내가 있어

자기 합리화의 달인, 자기 연민의 대가

실패와 고통을 되새김질하며

종일 그것들을 달달 볶아댈 죄책감을 자극하는 게 그의 일이지

그의 머릿속은 박애 정신으로 가득 차 있어

곧 먹힐 거야, 잡아 먹히고 말 거야

허영심이 개의 목줄을 쥐고 따라오고 있어

곧 잡힐 거야, 잡아 먹히고 말 거야

결국엔 어떤 식으로든 배우는 게 있겠지만

그러고도 아무것도 널 무너뜨릴 수 없는 척,

부러뜨릴 수 없는 척,

너의 거울을 깨뜨릴 수 없는 척 하겠지

자, 여기 정말 관심에 목 마른 한 사내가 있어

대단히 잘나신 대단한 멍청이지

이 눈부신 백주대낮에

해답은 캄캄한 그의 머릿속에만 갇혀있어

그의 머릿속 어느 구석에서 열심히 펄럭이고 있을 뿐이야
